Talky and figures

Placing in the visual editor

Pick up your Talky on your real page and put it where you want, per device and per page.

In the Place tab your real website appears in the editor, with your Talky on it. You pick it up and drag it to where it should be.

Five device views

Desktop, laptop, tablet, phone in landscape and phone in portrait. On each device the Talky has its own place. On small screens it can start small or appear only as a button.

Exactly where you want it

  • Distance in pixels or percent, measured from an edge of your choice.
  • Start place: where the Talky stands when the page opens. When the visitor scrolls, it moves to its place, gliding or driving.
  • Label: where the name sits on the figure.

Per page

Three views help you:

ViewWhat it's for
StandardThe place for all pages. By default at the bottom right.
Single pageA separate place for one specific page.
Page overviewYour pages as a tree. A place applies to all subpages until a page has its own.

You save places as named configurations, so you can give them to several pages. On single pages you can also hide the Talky completely.

As a block in the page

Instead of in the corner, the Talky can also stand in the middle of the page, for example next to your welcome text. For that you add a block to your page. Until the Talky has loaded, the block shows a placeholder image. On pages without a block the Talky stands in its usual place.

A picture on your page becomes the Talky

If your page already has a picture in the right spot, such as a figure in the header, the Talky can stand right there without you changing anything on your website:

  1. In Place, choose the page and "Block" for it.
  2. Click the picture in the frame. If you prefer, enter a CSS selector instead.
  3. Check it in the preview and publish.

The picture stays in your page's HTML and is the placeholder:

  • It is shown until the Talky has drawn its first frame; then the Talky fades it out and takes its place.
  • If the Talky does not come, the picture simply stays: without credit, offline, blocked, without JavaScript, or while consent is pending. Never a hole, nothing shifts.
  • When the visitor scrolls the picture out of view, the Talky stays there, shows a round button in the corner, or jumps into its corner and back when scrolling back. You choose.
  • If you no longer want the Talky later, there is nothing to undo on your website.

A block of your own

Your web designer can also put the block into the page, with a placeholder image of your own:

<div data-talkypage-stage style="aspect-ratio: 3 / 4; width: 320px">
  <img src="/images/talky.webp" alt="Our assistant" width="320" height="427">
</div>

You download your Talky's placeholder in Place, as an image or a small animation.

Hidden by visitors

With "✕" a visitor can hide the Talky. It stays as a small button and comes back with one click.

Look first, then publish

Like everything about the Talky, a new place goes into the draft first. You check it in the preview and bring it to your website with Publish.
