Getting started

Caching and performance plugins

What to set in plugins such as W3 Total Cache, WP Rocket or LiteSpeed Cache so the Talky loads reliably.

Many websites speed themselves up with a caching or performance plugin. These plugins combine scripts, minify them, move them, or load them only once the visitor does something. They should not do that with the TalkyPage code: it must be loaded unchanged and asynchronously from embed.talkypage.com.

If a plugin touches the code anyway, the Talky comes late or not at all. Your website itself is never affected, it keeps running as before.

Protected out of the box

The code from the customer area carries three attributes that most plugins respect on their own:

data-cfasync="false" data-no-optimize="1" data-no-minify="1"

Leave them in place. In many cases there is nothing more to do. Where a plugin does not know them, exclude the code as described below.

By plugin

PluginWhat to set
W3 Total Cache (menu "Performance")Under Minify, add https://embed.talkypage.com/v1/loader.js to the list of JavaScript files that are never minified. Then Purge All Caches.
WP RocketUnder File Optimization, add embed.talkypage.com to the excluded JavaScript files for combining, minifying and "Delay JavaScript execution". Then clear the cache.
LiteSpeed CacheUnder Page Optimization, add embed.talkypage.com to JS Excludes and JS Delayed Excludes. Then purge the cache.
AutoptimizeIn the JavaScript settings, add embed.talkypage.com to the excluded scripts.
SiteGround Speed OptimizerIn the JavaScript settings, exclude embed.talkypage.com from combining, minifying and deferring.
PerfmattersAdd embed.talkypage.com to the exclusions for "Delay JavaScript".
CloudflareNothing to do. Rocket Loader respects data-cfasync="false" and leaves the code alone.

A different plugin? Look for exclusions in its JavaScript settings and add embed.talkypage.com there.

How to check

  1. Clear the plugin's cache.
  2. Open your website in a private window. The Talky appears as usual.
  3. Open the page source (right-click, "View page source"). The code is still there as you inserted it and points to embed.talkypage.com.

Do not put the code behind your cookie banner, for example in Borlabs Cookie, unless you use the consent mode. How that works is described under Embedding in your website.

Rather try it than read about it? Talk to our Talky, or we'll set up a preview on your own website.
