Scanning and choosing pages

TalkyPage reads your website by itself, including hidden content and PDFs. In the page tree you choose what the Talky knows.

Your website is your Talky's most important source. TalkyPage reads it by itself. You don't have to type anything out or upload it.

What gets read

  • Every page that can be reached through your sitemap or through links.
  • Hidden content: collapsed sections, tabs, prices behind toggles, content from JavaScript. Cookie banners and dialogs don't get in the way.
  • Structured data (JSON-LD), such as opening hours, prices or events.
  • Linked PDFs on your website. They become documents.
  • Language versions that your website declares.

Only pages of your registered domains are read: main domain, subdomains and aliases.

The page tree

In the Pages tab your website appears as a tree. You switch whole sections, single pages and PDFs on and off. A search helps on large websites.

Each page has three options:

SettingMeaning
OnThe Talky searches the page for every matching question.
Only knowThe Talky knows the page exists and reads it when a visitor asks about it. Good for the legal notice or the privacy policy.
OffThe Talky doesn't know the page.

On large websites every address in the sitemap appears in the tree straight away. If more than 300 new pages arrive at once, they start switched off, so you can choose at your own pace.

Single sections

A page is made up of sections. Expand a page that has been read and switch off single sections, for example an outdated offer. In the frame you see the real page with markers on every section and switch them with a click.

Reading again

TalkyPage reads your website again every week, and only what has changed. After a change you start a read straight away, or a deploy hook does it for you. You can cancel a search or read that is running.

The first read of every domain is free. Later runs cost a small amount from your credit, shown under Conversations as "Knowledge".

Checking what the Talky would answer

With the probe you ask a question and see which passages are found and what the Talky would answer from them. You switch off a wrong hit right there.
